Don’t blame Gretchen for the Big Dig!  An MIT grad with degrees in Geology/Geotechnical Engineering, she worked on the central artery project in its early stages as a Geotechnical Engineer, but denies responsibility for any leaks.  Today, she maintains her profession part-time as a married mother of two girls, ages 8 and 11.

Gretchen’s past endeavors included a stint in a ruler factory (yes, rulers) where her duties included factory work, catalog layout and wrapping rulers for shipping.  People would be shocked to know she turned “scab” at one point during a factory strike!  She has also lived abroad in Australia and Barcelona; and just spent seven weeks in England, thanks to her husband’s sabbaticals.

At age 42, Gretchen signed up for figure skating lessons at Nashoba Valley Olympia.  She was turned onto hockey after watching a game, and soon after learned of NEWHL in a Beacon article.   She says the most rewarding thing about skating with NEWHL is the “camaraderie with my teammates.”

Gretchen sure measures up on the ice!
