A woman walks into a bar and orders…a milk?  That’d be Donna Bibber!   Donna’s boundless energy and unique humor are contagious both on and off the ice.  It’s hard to believe she only started skating with NEWHL last year, after Dee Kallgren’s urging.  Having played field hockey in college, and pond skating as a kid, taking it to the ice seemed natural.

Donna graduated from UMass Lowell in 1988 with a degree in Plastics Engineering.  She is president of her own company, Micro Engineering Solutions, which designs devices for medical uses and other microscopic components.  Donna was recently honored as one of the “100 Notable People in the Medical Device Industry.”  She speaks at technical conferences worldwide and is renowned in the field of implantable surgical devices including ones for ocular, cochlear and cardiac uses.

Down Time:  When not at the rink, or on her hour-long drive to or from it, Donna enjoys puttering around the house and spending time with her two girls Erin (15) and Carly (13); and their golden retriever, Sampson.  She has particularly enjoyed this year’s multiple snow days as her home turns into Teen-Central with snowmobiling, tubing, skating and bonfires.

Odds and Ends:  Donna’s friends would tell you that she “likes to drink and party with friends.”  She has a stamp collection spurred by her postmaster mom.  Her teammates might be surprised to know Donna does impressions (chain saw, bird, Donald Duck sneezing, movie characters, etc.)  Don’t forget to ask for a sample!

“Bibzee” says the most rewarding thing about skating with NEWHL is getting off the ice and hearing, win or lose, “that was an awesome game!”  Now, if she could only invent some medical implants for our creaking knees, aching backs, bonked heads, bruised…!
